MARK LECKEY WINS TURNER PRIZE

Mark Leckey was named winner of the 2008 Turner Prize.

Leckey was presented with the prize by Nick Cave at a ceremony at Tate Britian in London.

His piece Cinema-in-the-Round shows the artist lecturing in a deadpan voice on the nature of the filmed image in popular culture, referencing everything from Georg Baselitz, James Cameron, and Felix the Cat to the episode of The Simpsons when Homer goes out into the human world.
